Tips to know before going to Shanghai Disneyland

To enjoy the best time in Shanghai Disneyland, it is best to find the nearest hotel. I stayed in Courtyard Hotel for the price about 1.5 million Indonesia rupiah per night. There are other hotels to choose like Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel.

The happiest Place in The World

The nice thing about Courtyard hotel, they offer shuttle bus services and show a clear schedule to take you from/to the hotel, to/from Disneyland, to/from the subway, and to/from the PVG airport.

Tickets to Shanghai Disneyland

It is best to purchase your ticket before getting to Shanghai since it would be cheaper. In Indonesia you could purchase them through Traveloka or Tokopedia or a Travel Agency. I bought my tickets directly from the Shanghai Disney Resort Application for CNY 575 (IDR 1,258,180) Note that I used my Jenius card to pay for it and at that time the rate was 1 CNY = IDR 2,188.

Once you had the e-ticket under your own name all you need to do is show your passport at the entry gate and welcome to Shanghai Disneyland

Must Download Disney Apps

There are 2 important apps that you have to download before entering Shanghai Disneyland and be sure to bring power bank for extra battery because you will use your phone a lot.

EXPLANATION OF Shanghai Disney PhotoPass:
I recommend you to get the one day photopass because it gives you the privileges to download all the photo you take in the Photo Booth that day and you can download it anytime within 30 days from purchased date. It cost about 199 CNY (about IDR 435,412). There are other photo pass options that you could see in the Shanghai Disney PhotoPass.

EXPLANATION OF Shanghai Disney Resort:
This app gives informations on where you are, places to visit, attraction site, food stall, restaurant even gift shops. Not only that but it shows park hours, your tickets, today’s showtimes, estimate waiting time, toilets, and PhotoPass position.

Snack & Food Recommendation

Most of the food inside the Disneyland are pretty pricey, but I manage to indulge this corn of happiness. I forgot how much it cost but it was in the range between 8 CNY to 16 CNY. It definitely was worth it, the pork bacon really gave the crunchiness to it which compliments the juiciness and softness of the corn. Be sure to bring wet tissues and regular tissues.

I highly recommend to try the food outside the Disneyland, there are a lot of great/cheaper restaurants, also there is a food republic (food court) within the Disneyland area

The food that I bought wasn’t bad at all, it was super delish. Since I went there during cold season, the warm-nest of the soup really helped warming my body. Inside the soup there were bean sprouts, fish cutlet, scallion, sliced chilli, lastly 2 kind of noodles, rice noodle a.k.a bihun and flat noodle. I couldn’t recall the price but it was cheaper than the food inside Disneyland.

Disneyland Shanghai Magic Passport

For those of you who loves collecting stamps, you must buy the Disneyland Passport. The passport are available in 2 languages English and Chinese. It cost 70 CNY (153,160 IDR) for a passport. There are 2 ways in collecting the stamp, seek for a machine like the photo down bellow and second one is going to the clerk in the gift shops.

During my time there were 15 stamps needed to be collected. Inside the passport there is a complete clue on where you would find them. To me, the fun part was hunting for it and please note that it is possible to finish them a day.

Once you completed all the stamps, there would be a reward waiting for you. I bought 2 different passport when I was there. The old passport will gives a completion stamp and a pen, the new passport will gives a completion stamp, a pen and a bracelet.

Collectable Coins

Through out Disneyland you can find lots of Magic Medallions, there are variations from Star Wars to Pirates of the Caribbean. If I’m not mistaken the price of each coin cost about 10 – 20 CNY per coin (21,880 -43,760 IDR) .

Things to consider get in Disneyland Shanghai

†1. Disneyland Gummy

These adorable and delicious gummy, I preferred the Minnie ones because there is a filling inside it but the daisy ones aren’t bad too. It cost 25 CNY (54,700 IDR) per pack.

2. Buzz Lightyears Chocolate

I forgot to take photo of the product, but here is what it looks like on the inside. But do note that the packaging are in the same blue color and it has buzz light year picture on it.

This is the best chocolate ever, there are sizzle fizzy candies inside them. You get the combination of the sweetness plus bitterness of the chocolate and the sparks plus explosion from the fizzy rocks. It cost 65 CNY (142,220 IDR) per package, it comes with small pieces neatly wrapped chocolate.

3. Disney Sarasa Pen

For those of you who loves using Zebra Sarasa Pen, then don’t missed out of this cute Disney edition ones. There are other colours and design available but I mostly only need the black pen. It cost 15 CNY (32,820 IDR) per pen.
